When I was alive, I might have been a little naughty
But after they killed me, I became something much, much worse.

| The Springwood Slasher. | |||
| Frederick Charles Krueger was born in the early 1940s to Sister Mary Helena -- also known as Amanda Krueger -- after she was brutally raped by one hundred patients at the Westin Hills psychiatric hospital. He was given up for adoption, and was put into the care of a Mr. Underwood, who mentally and physically abused Freddy. Even as a child, Freddy displayed sociopathic behaviour, and was shunned by the majority of his classmates. As he grew older, he began to practice self-injury, and eventually murdered Underwood after discovering the 'secret' of pain. Krueger eventually married a woman named Loretta, and the two had a daughter named Katherine together. The family resided at 1428 Elm Street in Springwood, and Katherine was only a child herself when neighbourhood children began to disappear. Many of the children turned up dead, although some remained missing. The papers dubbed the murderer 'The Springwood Slasher', due to the particularly grisly nature of the children's deaths. One day, Loretta discovered Freddy's 'secret' room in the basement; which held his various torture devices, newspaper clippings of his crimes, and various prototypes of a clawed glove. She promised not to tell anyone that he was the Slasher, but to no avail: Krueger strangled her in front of their own daughter. In 1966, Fred Krueger was finally arrested for the murders of over twenty children, although the true amount was estimated to be more, since some of the children were never found. He worked at the local power plant, where he took the children, killing them in the plant's boiler room. However, one of the search warrants wasn't signed correctly, so Krueger was set free. The parents of Elm Street tracked him down that night, in the boiler room of the power plant, and set the building on fire. Freddy was trapped inside, and to the outside world, perished in the fire. Stuff of Nightmares. | What the parents didn't realize that night was that Freddy hadn't truly died. He was approached by three dream demons, who offered him the power to turn dreams into reality. He accepted their offer to 'be forever'... and that was when the fun really began. | Freddy attacks his victims in their dreams -- he targets children and teenagers, although he has no problem with slaughtering mortals of any age. His bladed glove is his primary weapon, although he does like a bit of variety every now and then. In the dream world, his power is limitless -- but in the real world, he is as vulnerable as any other human being. He seems to enjoy torturing his victims before killing them, usually in the most grisly way possible. He has a rather dry, sick sense of humour, and tends to be quite cynical. He's been killed numerous times, but no death is ever permanent. After he was blown up by a pipe bomb, courtesy of his now-adult daughter, he found himself trapped in Hell -- this time unable to escape. The town of Springwood succeeded in erasing any memory of him, so Krueger used Jason Voorhees to make them remember. Jason got carried away, however, leading to a showdown between the two -- which ended in both of their deaths. Not that something as insignificant as death would keep Freddy down for long. |
